This is by far the best upgrade you can do. I live live almost 30 miles from town and the tower and getting a good 500 MB download with 100 MB upload. With a standard T-Mobile internet device, the best we got was 250 sometimes 300 if we were lucky and only 10 MB on good days upload and 20 MB at night.
This cellular modem is a great piece of hardware. Pairing it with my OPNsense firewall\router for my mobile internet solution has worked very well. As long as cellular service is half-way decent, this out performs Starlink and that's only with basic paddle antennas.
Richard has been great, I asked several questions before and after purchasing this item, He answered all my questions completely and in a very timely manor.
I was skeptical about purchasing the Amplimax as I had come off another manufacturers pro 4x4 mimo antenna system for my Att Internet Air home.
I'm only 2/3 mi from the tower but a metal pole barn and an old water tower are in my line of site as well as several trees.
I never got 5g before the Amplimax and with the old antenna 250 down and 45 up were possible on occasion but not very often.
Setup wasn't as bad as I expected and the videos and online help provided were awesome.
I now have 99% 5g signal on n5 band, with b2 and 2) b66 bands seen also. The unit is mounted about 10 ft up on the corner of my house with approx 60' of cat 6 cable to my router. Voltage at the unit reports > 20v, well in excess of the 9 v minimum. I did use another competitors ethernet window entry adapter about half way to the router as I have no attic access to the side of my house facing the tower.
I have seen speeds exceeding 300 mbps down and 100 bps up on off peak hours with the Speed test app to a server 49 miles away. 250 down and 80 up pretty much the norm.
Like another review says, just do it!
This device works great with my RM551E-GL modem with the RJ45 providing connectivity to my 1GbE downstream device. It comes as a kit with all needed hardware, including heatsinks, and is easily assembled with a small screwdriver, 9mm wrench, and needle nose pliers. When I contacted them for support, they were very responsive via email and chat. Great support and product is working flawlessly so far.
With the recent changes to Unifi Network I was finally able to add a third WAN and therefore cellular backup to my full Ubiquiti network/security stack at home. Initially, I ordered a MR6110 unlocked off Amazon and the performance at my location was a little lackluster.. I only saw 60/4mbps. This caused me to go down a rabbit hole on Google until I eventually landed on thewirelesshaven. Prior to arriving here, I had ton quite a bit of reading all over the web and on GitHub and had pretty much decided on getting a RM551E-GL and some sort of "ETH enclosure." I ultimately decided to bite the bullet and purchase my equipment with thewirelesshaven after going back and forth with Richard in the website chat. On the surface the pricing seemed a little high in comparison to other websites I came across, but I truly feel like it was completely worth it for the advice/support I was able to get from Richard.
And the results? Well.. with this enclosure, an RM551E-GL and these stick antennas (AO 1LF738V5 SM) inside my house on the second floor sitting next to my master bedroom TV, I'm able to get a consistent ~500/10mbps; mind you my location is notoriously bad for cell reception. I don't really need the cellular backup as I already have dual fiber connections (AT&T and Comcast) which have never gone down (knock on wood), but I'm happy to have the cellular backup just incase. Thanks again Richard. 👍🏻
